CVE-2018-5391 Linux Kernel Denial of Service Vulnerability in NetApp Products


Multiple NetApp products incorporate the Linux kernel. Linux kernel versions 3.9 and higher are susceptible to a vulnerability related to the reassembly of fragmented IPv4 and IPv6 packets. A remote attacker could send specially crafted packets to cause Denial of Service (DoS). This vulnerability is referred to as FragmentSmack.


Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker cause Denial of Service (DoS).

FAS/AFF Baseboard Management Controller (BMC)

Fixed by bug 1185801. First fixed versions include the following: 10.2,11.3,11.3P1,12.0

Per CERT KB 641765: Further testing shows that these mitigations are not a 100% fix. A significantly strong attack will still result in a denial of service condition.
StorageGRID (formerly StorageGRID Webscale)
SnapProtect SnapProtect has no plans to address this vulnerability. See the EOA announcement for more information.
E-Series SANtricity OS Controller Software 11.x
OnCommand Unified Manager for VMware vSphere 9.4 and above
