CVE-2019-5506 Hostname Verification Vulnerability in Clustered Data ONTAP 9.0 and higher

Summary

Clustered Data ONTAP versions 9.0 and higher do not enforce hostname verification under certain circumstances making them susceptible to impersonation via man-in-the-middle attacks.

Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks utilizing data configured using the "system node virtual-machine hypervisor" command.

This command is not supported on hardware-based platforms - it is supported only on virtual platforms such as ONTAP Select.
