CVE-2016-0728 Linux kernel Privilege Escalation Vulnerability in Multiple NetApp Products

Summary

Multiple NetApp products incorporate the Linux kernel. Any system containing the Linux kernel version 3.8 or higher is susceptible to a vulnerability that could be exploited to allow local users to gain privileges or to cause a denial of service. NetApp is investigating which products use affected versions of the Linux kernel. This advisory will be updated as additional information becomes available.

Impact

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may lead to an unauthorized user privilege escalation or a crash (DOS) of the system.
